About the Author
I am a solo attorney practicing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and I am a solo by both choice and necessity.
With at least one career under my belt prior to law school (as a project accountant), a significant amount of customer service experience from work in the service industry, and what appears to be a genetic penchant for the entrepreneurial lifestyle, I concluded that I was probably not cut out to work for someone else ever again. Another factor I considered was the professional satisfaction solos appear to get from just being solo. I want to rest at night knowing that I did everything I could for a client and that my clients trust me to do just that. I also enjoy working with people, which I am able to do as a solo practitioner.

Prior to law school, I wore many hats and worked many jobs, most of which influence my view of lawyering. I started off working in a machine shop learning the trade. Machinist work taught me that there is no work out there that is below me - an important life lesson, especially when you come home covered in cutting oil, grit from the grinder, and a shoe full of metal shavings.
During undergrad, I primarily worked in the service industry as a server or cook. Quality customer service pays the bills when you serve people food and drinks. Yet another lesson that translates well into legal work. I also worked on a tree farm for a summer, where I happily spent my days out on a tractor doing root pruning or on foot trimming the trees, all self-supervised. Most unique of all my undergrad jobs was my time working as a veterinary technician. Every day I got to take care of people’s pets and in most cases, it was a joy. In some cases, it was incredibly sad as people were told they would lose a close friend and family member. Helping people accept and cope with loss is not fun, but a necessary skill to have, another one I think adds to my capability as a lawyer.
After I graduated from undergrad, I took a job as a project accountant at a multinational engineering firm where I truly honed my business acumen. I traveled around the U.S. working with individual business offices to get them billing on a proper schedule. I also worked with executives on plans to streamline the billing structure for offices assigned to me.
Based on my diverse work experience and legal education, I confidently offer legal representation to both businesses and individuals alike.
